In need of info please.

There are signs when your hen is approaching those first eggs. (I'm guessing you mean first egg laying for a pullet and not time of day for an already laying hen).

1. Her comb, wattles and facial skin will be more mature, red, plump and larger than in her younger days.
2. She may be more vocal...squawking for no apparent reason and looking around
3. She may go into the nest area and try it on for size -- if you have a ladder to your coop she will go up during the day and not just to sleep for the night, for example.
3. Her vent will change from small and flat to moist and curved
4. The distance between her pelvic bones will be larger--- depending upon your breed of chicken...so that you can feel the points of the bones on her backside and fit 3-fingers between the points of the bones under her fluff.
5. She may squat when she sees you approach, flatten herself to the ground and slightly spread her wings.......

Oh wow my hen is showing all those signs . I am new to owning a hen i only have one . I was wondering why she was talking a lot more to me . I thought she just had a lot more to say .LOL!!. The lady I bought her from said she is about 5 to six months old is that a normal age to start laying eggs?

You can introduce your pullet to others around her age or younger. It's a process however and their are many threads on BYC that talk about how to integrate younger chickens to your original flock. Do some reading on BYC first. She is still young enough that it should be a little easier than introducing a year old flock to chicks for example. Good luck.
