In quite a dilemma...kind of baffled

Thank you 70% cocoa. The two muskovies are mean lol They chase poor Pete around :( We have had to separate them but I think they are going to have to go back to where we got them from. The vet mentioned it being neurological, she also mentioned it COULD be from boredom since he was in his coop most of the winter by himself, all he had was a mirror.

I'm thinking it's good that you are thinking of returning the Muscovies. I'd suggest just getting one, female, duck as a friend for Pete. A single duck is likely to bond with Pete more than two ducks that are already best buddies.

Would be great if you can get another Pekin. But any duck about the same size will do.

He is a beautiful looking boy (saw your pics on the other thread). :)

Thank you again. We have ordered 10 baby pekins(1 jumbo) we are going to be keeping four, once we can tell them apart as they are (SR) we will be picking 4 and rehoming the other 6. We already have a family lined up for them. They should be here April 11th.

That's great. Once they are old enough to move out of the brooder perhaps you can house them right next to Pete so they can get used to each other through the fence.

Pete sure looks healthy. Maybe he has a charlie horse? Can ducks get charlie horses?

My pekins haven't done this yet, but then again, they seem to be phobic of the water too.

Glad your getting more pekns but if you keep 4 and rehome 6 wont Pete still be alone since he'll be left without a buddy to himself?

I am wondering if a sprinkle of flax seed meal in his food might help.

It is anti-inflammatory and has omega-3 fatty acids that help healing.

If you can't find the meal, you can crush the whole seeds.
