In run or in coop

Welcome to BYC.
A lot depends on the security of your coop and run.
I never keep food in coops here because it attracts rats and anything else that can get in and is hungry.
I free range so the coops aren't secure in daylight hours given there is no run attached and the pop doors are open.
I don't leave feed out at all in fact. Free ranging means any food left out gets eaten by everything passing by including donkey's and sheep I feed and remove.
My view is only keep feed in coops if they are absolutely secure (rat proof) and if you absolutely must.

I keep food and water in the run if there isn't rain (as my run is only covered with wire to eliminate flying predators). When they go in to roost, I put up the food/water. If it is rainy, then the food/water stays in the coop. My coop is 8 x 12, and there are only five birds. I think a lot depends upon whether your coop is large enough for them to walk around in, and whether your run is covered from the weather.
