In search of Tolbunt Polish Chickens

Well, it's now almost the end of 2008. I have also been searching endlessly to find someone who offers tolbunt chicks or eggs. They are pretty hard to find.
If anyone knows of someone in the us that has them I would be forever greatful for the information.

Thanks to anyone who reads this. Hope the post isn't too old, I may have to start another newer post.

Just wanted to bump this up. I have wanted to get some tolblunt polish but can't find them. Has anyone attempted to breed your own or doing so at this time? If so, what breeds were used? Have thought about starting such a project. But would like to find someone who has or is doing a similiar project and swap some ideas. Thanks

Well I would say that this thread is incredibly old, but no - You cannot create Tolbunt Polish. They're rarely for sale, but we just had an auction for test eggs a little while ago. Also, Green Acres sells eggs - But remember, these are Tolbunts. So, with that in mind - Both the auction and the current eggs for sale, they go for a very pretty penny. Also, about swaps - People usually only do that among current Tolbunt owners to improve their flock.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it should have read a bird similiar to a tolblunt but not call it a tolblunt polish. A lot of people would like to have the tolblunt but with the high prices asked for them, It just isn't going to happen. I believe that they can be bred using some of the breeds that are available in the U.S. And I have thought about how to do it. I revived this old post in hopes of finding someone who might be attempting such a project. If there is any toblunt polish breeders reading this, I want your advise. Thanks

I used to have some back in 2004. I gave up on them due to fertility problems (they were too inbred) and most of them back then had crooked toes. Mine did not, but mine kept dying off (cancer, too old, freezing to death in winter). I have learned that some breeders use Russian Orloff Roos w/Tollbunt hens to improve fertility. They look almost like a cross between Buff Laced, Silver Laced & Golden Laced, but with mottling. Just my own observation. Here are some breeders that may still have them: Marsha Peterson (VA), Sylvia Babus (VA), Channing Grisham (AL). Have you checked the Polish Breeders Club site? Also, FYI to the OP- your polish have poor to no lacing. They are pet quality at best. They are supposed to have lots of even lacing. Your Golden has none at all. Just FYI. Maybe you only wanted them for pets. Good luck all with your search. I know someone in CA looking for eggs or birds if anyone finds any in CA please PM me. Thanks.

"Baregretchen" has them, but right now it's limited to eggs when she has them available. There is a woman in AZ that also raises them. I have some of her eggs in the incubator right now, so far all but 3 are developing

Yep - I'm currently on the wait list for hers.

Fattie is right though - And from what all I've heard, Orloffs and poorly laced Golden Laced Polish are often the birds to use to improve Polish fertility and hardiness. But, as said, Tolbunts in my opinion should only be for the experienced person who is not looking for a pet, but who is looking for something that they know what to do with.

Hello
Did you ever find Tolbunt Polish?
There are none in Australia that I'm aware of and I'm having a go at creating them using white Polish and a mille fleur Danver Belgian bantam rooster. Not a fast project!
Cheers
