Has anyone tried digging a hole for a kiddy pool to make it ground level for your ducks? I'm thinking of doing that. The ground next to their cage is on a slope, so if we make the hole level, the lower side wouldn't have to be dug as deep, and will be easier for us to drain. Has anyone done this? Suggestions?

Saw something like this on another thread. The hole was dug twice as deep as the pool and under where the bottom of where the pool sat, smaller in diameter. Boards were laid across the inner ledge. The pool was set on top of the boards and a drain plug put in the pool. This was done so the pool could be drained into the empty pit below, the ground would just absorb the water. Hope some of that made sense!!!

I didn't sink my kiddy pool. It seems like a great idea!
I did half sank an old bath tub. I used the dirt we dug up to build an earth ramp for the ducks and the drain leads out into a ditch that waters some roses and fruit trees.
Here it was before we sank it, way in the back of the picture.

Here it is after we sank it but before we covered the earth ramp in AstroTurf to discourage mud holes

and here it is today, 3 years later

Here is the ditch the water drains to, my ducks love it when I drain their bath!

I know it's been done, the only issue is draining it... though i am sure there must be some fancy way to accomplish this. I have a HUGE trough that i got off my hay guy that i need to repair but it will need ramps or be sunk... trouble is draining it.

I admit i prefer to just tip my pools so i use kiddy ones and water troughs(50Gal) I'd probably check the ponds, pool thread out for ideas! some great ones in there.

Ive been looking this up also since ours are not feathered yet. Ive seen where a hole is cut and a sink or shower drain is put in. Thats whatwe plan on trying.
