Thanks for the info. I just lost a chicken (rhode island red) yesterday. She was there in the morning, but gone when we put them in at dusk... We had four free range chickens. I figured it was a hawk. Saw a red tailed one
about two weeks ago kill a full grown rabbit out back. It was too big to carry off...I scared him off, but it was too late for the rabbit. I've had geese (Embden and Chinese) for the past 25 years. We are retired and now down
to one goose. Ollie, our goose, is 22 years old and a chinese. He's doing great. Is free range and has his own pool for these hot summer days. I never worried about his safety until now. He goes in our chicken building
every night (now along with the only 3 chickens)...but whatever happened, happened in the daytime. I see raccoons hit on the road sometimes, but not on our property. But who knows....maybe even a fox or coyote if they
come out during the day. It's sad though, you get attached to them...
