In the name of recycling - OUR NEW CHICKEN COOP!!!!

We have used old refrigerated box from the back of a tractor trailor... you will need to add some windows.. we have those spinny vent fans on the top of the coop. Our chickens are doing just fine... we are using a bigger one for our second coop. The metal seems to attract the heat.. so good ventilation is key... Rustoeum paint is our best friend!!!

Here is picture of ours... my boyfriend even got the lights to work ... they have a solar sensor and come on at night

Tried the link and it said it was an expired listing - would love to see it though!

OP, you're up north so that really helps but if it's ever really hot that metal may be an oven. Needs great ventilation and fans and such if it ever does get really hot.

Looking forward to seeing pics after it's transformed for chickens

Thanks everyone! I just went to look at it and the colour is great. It is Electric Blue!!! Apparently, the van still works with a tune up....ha ha ha....

We will definitely send pics of the progress!

There are two side doors, with opening windows and double back doors that open as well. A great find indeed!!!

Since it still runs, perhaps taking out the engine and using that area for a nesting box would be wasted potential. If you have a fairly large amount of land, you could move it around like a chicken tractor, into sunnier locations during those cold Canadian winters, into the shade during the summer etc.
