Video: Human Agents Raid Tiger Ranch

Animal Ranch Raided; Cats Found Dead, Woman Arrested
Veterinarian Say Dogs, Horses, Chickens Being Removed

FRAZER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Humane Society agents raided a Frazer Township farm Thursday night and discovered 500 to 600 cats on the grounds, many sick or dead, a veterinarian said.

At least a dozen cats had to be euthanized and as many as 400 had to be medicated due to highly contagious diseases, according to humane officers.

Authorities said they are continuing to remove animals -- including dogs, horses and chickens -- from the Tiger Ranch compound on Friday.

Owner Lin Marie was arrested during the raid, and police said she faces at least a dozen charges of animal cruelty. They said she is in the Allegheny County Jail.

Neighbors said they've not been able to get local officials involved, so the raid, with a search warrant from the district attorney's office, was conducted by the Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

PSPCA director Howard Nelson told the Valley News Dispatch that a search warrant was obtained after a seven-month undercover investigation in which Butler County humane officer Deborah Urmann posed as an employee.

"She claims she's a no-kill shelter, but really she's a slow-kill shelter," Urmann said of Marie's animal ranch.

An emergency shelter was set up at the Clarion County SPCA to handle the animals
