I used to worry about them in the rain too! My friend told me when I first got chickens, that they are lodes of fun but dumb as rocks. There have been many times when I think they are indeed dumb as rocks. But they do seem to get smarter, and if there are older ones around that run for cover the younger ones follow. Mine usually run under a thick bush or their coop if it rains hard. If it is a light rain, bugs are more important then cover; yum, yum

even in a cold rain they have not gotten sick, they will be fine.

Right! It's been raining here all day and all my chickens--adults, early April hatchlings and May 29th hatchlings--have been running around in it having a ball. When they get too wet, they go inside, dry a bit and go back out. I expect they'll be fine in the morning.

I was concerned as a newbie about this very matter... today it is raining pretty bad. I put a heat light in one of the corners of their house (a very large shed conversion) for them if they get cold... some are out grazing and some are relaxing in the heated area of their house.
