The airplane crash WAS covered in the news (on the West Coast) the day it happened. Just amazing that no one died!

We have a large section of 'do not mow' full of wild flowers.
We had a hot winter and then several freezes in the spring when the insects would have been emerging, that may have added to the problem.

Do you know, I've heard all my life that squirrels remember where they buried their nuts. But anyone watching them for a time and observing exactly where they do dig can tell you that they have no idea. They just sniff around and randomly dig holes where they think they smell one. I've had them dig around looking for them in places they could not possibly have buried any, because, for instance, that spot had been covered by bricks for 20 years or some such.

Another picture my friend took. This is Dakota, my Half Arabian 4 year old who is best friends with my 7 year old potbelly. You can see she is still favoring her foot.

Ok, I love bacon as much as anybody can, I have tattoos, and I love heart-shaped gemstones, but I don't think I am quite ready to tattoo a heart-shaped bunch o' bacon on my body. At almost sixty, I don't see it on the horizon, either. Just sayin'.
