Last week a cicada flew from the door into the chicken pen as I opened it. The hens were on it immediately but soon abandoned it as it kept buzzing loudly. Apparently it's not so appealing a thing to eat as they'd thought at first. But now the tiny snake I found drowned in the pool filter basket was a real treat. They snatched it up and ripped it into bits stealing it from one another. And it was soon gone.
