in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

I could terrorize DD with photos of the snakes I took yesterday at the Jacksonville Zoo but would hate to cause trauma, so here's this picture of storks instead:

I love pelicans and was thrilled to get to see some up close:

And of course the flamingos:

Nice zoo and a nice way to spend the 4th!

Beautiful pictures! I love the flamingos.

Was the zoo crowded?

Holidays are awful at Brookfield zoo - my favorite areas are the souvenir shops, ice cream shop & restaurants I love the animals but, I have seen them about a zillion times in my life - my brother has a family pass. When you are outside the animals go indoors, and vice versa. I like the children's zoo because they have goats and chickens.

When it's really busy, you have to eat your stuff outside with the yellow jackets and bees, trying to get a taste. Have to be careful with drinks because they love to sting you when you take sip. Oh and when the wind picks up, there goes the cups and napkins and plates. What fun!

We got there about 5 minutes before the zoo opened for the day. It was buy one admission/get one free so the later in the day, the busier it got. Also got a lot hotter so we decided to leave around 1pm...as we were walking out the gate, the sky opened up and it POURED. We felt so lucky we were able to do what we did.
