I love the small house concept , but pulling a converted trailer around with a large blocky structure hardly makes sense ? I like the container concepts the best , although in my neck of the world it would need a lot of insulation to be comfortable in the cold months

In the US most unused public land is open for "camping" for 14 days at a time which resets every time you move camp 25 miles or more. So the people doing that are living on public land for free an are only moving their trailers about 50 miles a month. Its mostly on dirt roads or other low speed roads so sense its not far at a time an not fast, shape does not matter much.


Others only have them built on trailers to bypass building codes. They are on private land an don't actually ever plan to move them but putting them on wheels makes them "temporary" so they are unregulated.

Nicky I'm coming in late but, I had the same thought "scare off the neighbors." They don't like roosters , do they??

Can you tell me what this plant is that was in our yard when we bought the house?


This is the first we've seen it bloom in the 2 years we've had the house. I think maybe some type of iris but it doesn't look exactly like the iris I'm used to.

There is a moth that will roll the petals up and pupate in it... they are clear larva and will give you the hebiegeebis, so don't unroll it, just squish it in the rolled up petal.

Cannas can be great in a landscape. They come back every year, aren't too aggressive about spreading, are tolerant of wet soil, and have that lovely tropical look about them. There are dwarf forms, and some that grow to 6 feet or more; some have bronze or variegated foliage. As 3goodeggs said, the leaf roller can be an unsightly pest, but squishing them (or timely applications of an organic pesticide like Bt) can keep them under control.

This is something new we put out about a month ago. It's a crimson Mandevilla and we planted it in front of an old wagon wheel I got from Mom's house. The photo was taken not long after we got it and now this crazy vine has already grown around the wheel spokes and on the wooden pole.
