ETA: Rojo on guard while his hens feed. This is what a rooster should be.

Yes! My Big Red does the same. We tried this feed method, and the hens won’t touch it. Squirrels and chipmunks love it!

Where I live, killing a spider in the house is considered very bad luck. Therefore, Russians usually catch spiders alive and throw them out windows or doors to the street. I don't know how old this superstition is, but it was before I was born.

I am so grateful that my indoor cat usually gets to them before I do!
