They are labeled as "Natural", and in the regulations on using terms like that in Europe are much stronger than in the U.S.

BTW, on the next shelf up were packaged pigeons, but I suspect they aren't the same breed as the winged rats that we have in our large cities, or that they have in Venice:

Awe new puppies! The pigeon breed may be runts which are actually good sized meat birds.
