I was gifted with two pullets several weeks ago (one of my sons works at Tractor Supply and a lady brought in two six-ish week chicks she could not care for - not sure of the back story), and one of them is a Barred Rock, but the other one is a mystery chicken.

She started off with black legs, a black beak and a black comb bud, with black feathers spotted with chocolate brown, and white on her throat with a thin white line down her chest.

I've had Australorps, and I know she's not that - no green shimmery in her feathers. I have Welsummers, and they have yellow legs, so I know she's not that. No beard or muffs, so not an EE mutt. The comb is showing signs of lightening, and the white is all gone, but I'm stumped. She was supposedly originally a Tractor Supply purchase.

Oh, and she's SUPER sweet 🥰!

Thanks, All! Hopefully someone can ID her!

Based on what you both wrote above, she could be a Black Sex Link or a Black Copper Marans. Either would be great - but the dark brown eggs of a BCM would be a fun addition to our flock!

I'm wondering if she is a BCM - from what I read, BSL chicks are all black, and this chick (pullet) had white under her chin and down her chest, so who knows?

Expecting eggs sometime in Sept-Oct, as I'm unsure of the pullet's exact age when we got her. Egg color will hopefully be the tell!
