So just to start I'm new to raising chickens. With that being said, my leghorn just started laying for the first time about 2 weeks ago. She was pretty close to a 26 hour schedule, then she laid a double yolk egg ( it was a monster!) . Since then she has been inconsistent. Wondering if this is normal or if she will get back to a regular schedule.

When they first start laying it can take a while for them to figure out how to consistently put up a good quality egg at regular intervals.

Sometimes you will also get egg anomalies such as soft shells, shell-less, double yolk, even no yolk eggs!

It just takes them a little time to get the egg factory running right.

    Nothing to worry about.
