Started up my incubator today and it has been running for 6 hours with no eggs. I know the digital temp that is on the bator is unreliable usually. So I put 2 additional ones in thinking they would be right. I have 2 that are reading the same and 2 that are different. But they are pretty far off. I don’t know which one to go off of. The bator temp is at 99 which is what I have it set to. 2 others are at 104 and I just bought one thinking that would be the tie breaker and that one reads 97. The humidity is also all over the place. The bator one reads 44 percent and the other 2 read 51 and 61 percent. What can I do??

What kind of incubator do you have? I have Farm Innovator model 4250 circulated air and I've been running it for 3 days and the humidity is correct. My bator temp reads as 5 degrees higher than it actually is.

I have an RPSproducts hygrometer and ¢98 thermoter that are both accurate.

I have the same model. I just lowered it. I’m assuming the two that are reading 104 are correct. Fingers crossed I guess lol!

Spend a lot of money or not. First off thermometers are usually calibrated at extremes - ice bath and boiling water. So yes its calibrated for 32 and 212 but what about 99.5.

I went to Wally World and grabbed instant read thermometers off the peg, turned them on and stood there holding it between my thumb and forefinger. When I found two that read within a tenth of a degree of what my abnormal but normal for me body temp, I paid for them. Ten minutes and $10 later I was walking to my car with 2 thermometers calibrated within a couple degrees of the desired working temp.

This stuff doesn't have to be this hard but a lot of folks seem to work overtime making it that way.

I've noticed around here that we have people who actually know what they are talking about and people who think or pretend they do.
Everyone gets so caught up in the hubbub of who's right, and who's wrong. But we all forget that every situation is different and within every situation are endless variables which we don't and can't control and nor can we always know about them.

In the case of incubation temperature and humidity, they can very immensely because of environment alone. We don't all live in the same house. We don't all have the same climate. We also don't all use the exact same products. Some products have to be calibrated or used differently or are meant to be used in different area (outside instead of an incubator). So if we are going to offer our advice here, we should probably all stop to consider everything.

Like where is the OP? What product are they using? What is the intended use of said product? How does said product measure temp or humidity?

Just my two cents.
