I thought the same thing, Jody, when I read this email. I didnt even know what to say. Im not sure how anyone can call this person anything but fraudulent and rude. Id love to know who it is, if its someone on BYC. I sure dont want to be dealing with her.

If she can't remove the picture - how about a comment saying its NOT her bird? waiting till its over is kinda pointless.

i went on Ebay earlier. and looked at OEGb eggs, the photos were taken from OEGBCA website most of them, in the "Show pictures (Varieties)" section, which is ridiculous. if you want to use someone elses picture. at least dont use SQ birds

.. leads people onto thinking their getting something their not,

I'm sorry. I did not realize there was anything really rude about the email. I was just trying to help clear things up a bit. Like I said before. Judging by the way she does her business. I don't think she was as bad as everyone is portraying. I myself have copied and pasted pics from the web. No I did not use them for any purpose but my own. I have one of your pics on my desktop, It was so cute!
But cut her a break. How many people on Ebay do you know go out of their way to please a customer. And again, she DID try to delete it. But couldn't after there was a bid on it. BUT and I mean BUT....She is going to delete it once the auction is over. What else do you want? BLOOD? Let's show some love here. Maybe she was wrong in postin. But she is trying to remedy the problem.
New peeps who read these forums are gonna be less likely to join up with a scary lot like us. Let's cool it a bit and wait and see. OK?????PLEASE BE NICE. Love and peace y'all.

I have thousands of photos on flickr--all the pics I share here are linked from their flickr page. Since I began licensing them via Creative Commons, I have not had one single instance of unauthorized photo use. People used to contact me and ask permission (which I usually gave, because it was almost always to illustrate a blog-post or something), and sometimes they still do. But now, the ones I do NOT want copied, like pics of my daughter, I have as "ALL RIGHTS RESERVED." But 90% of my pics carry a Creative Commons Attribution license. This means that if someone wants to "borrow" my pic, they can, provided they attribute the photo to me, preferably linking back to its original page. They're also not allowed to alter my image or profit from it. I like this system, as it actually drives more traffic to my flickrstream, and by extension, to my blog, which means an eensy bit more money for me at the end of the month.

I have given use of my images to tons of organizations, even the City of Cincinatti in one case, but the only time I ever asked for remuneration was when Nike wanted to use one of my pics in some kind of promotional brochure. For FREE. Um, yeah...Nike? Come up off some dough first.

Another site I can recommend, that I think is about a thousand times better than Photobucket, is PhoTrade . Once you sign up there, you can post your pics linking from PhoTrade anywhere, and every single time they're viewed, from anywhere, you get paid. Not a fortune, but hey, it adds up! Also, PhoTrade offers automatic watermarking and other protections to keep your photos from being "lifted" without your permission.

I want to figure out how to replace unauthorized photo-linking with this image:

I agree, I'd like to know who it is too. In the future I had planned to try to only get my eggs from fellow BYCers and I'd rather not deal with her....

It is amazing how upset people are over a photo...

Grow some thick skin and move on...there are a lot more things to worry about than one individual using a "borrowed" photo for an ebay auction.

Oh, and Jody? I would LOVE to have some of your "father-daughter breeding" produce, PLEEEEEZ. I'm not sure I'd want to buy eggs from someone with so little understanding of the value of linebreeding and inbreeding under controlled, known conditions. But I DO know that I'd want to buy YOURS.

I don't think it's so much that they borrowed the photo, though they should have asked. More so though, people bidding on those eggs think they are from those birds, which they are clearly not. Anyway, that's the problem I have with it.

Finally! Just when I was ready to quit BYC altogether. GOODNIGHT!
