Incubating and hatching eggs chat thread!!

Some of us are a little more obsessed.

I'm bipolar and have OCD... I don't think its possible to get more obsessed.

Actually, I wouldn't be able to hatch them togather in the same Incubator.Both have to be locked down at diffrent times.

The "lockdown" is not a rock wall. I often have different hatch dates for chickens in the same incubator. I open it up and stickvthe ones that are ready into another incubator to hatch

I know that. I have 2 incubators and use one as a hatcher. This way, I run continuous, staggered hatches.

This evening I'm starting the blue and olives. Only putting 18 in the bator

You have a billion quail-- if you started weighing and measuring air cells, it could get dangerous

Yup! Mama hens were never told about Lockdown-- oh my!

Seems everything I'm putting in lately, half are infertile (with one exception- they were all fertile). So disappointing. I appreciate it when one person gave me a heads up. When I'm paying for shipped eggs, I expect to have to struggle with aircells. I just would love it if I was getting fertile eggs, too. There is nothing I can do to help that, of course.

True... for me, I want to feel like I've given them their best chance.

From the conversations I've been having with friends, egg production is down across the board and so is fertility. Think its heat related.
