Always verify the information through multiple sources. There are some well meaning idiots on BYC just like anywhere else. Also, there ARE exceptions to EVERY rule. :welcome

Could be a slipped tendon.

I guess that could happen during hatch. But when I watch her, she reminds me of my pediatric spine bifida patients. She seems to always try to use her wings to get around. The other D'uccles haven't done this. I haven't seen her move her bowels, either. That tells me it's only hours or a day until she weakens and passes. In the brooder (daytime) she's a target for the bigger chicks. I use a heating pad or even bra if needed to keep her calm. But she stopped eating anything now.

I will give hatchlings a chance, if they continue in a downward spiral I cull them. Competition is strong in my birds,a weak or injured bird generally won't survive.

This one won't survive. Just had to cull a couple recently. This one isn't weak at all. So I'm providing palliative care... it's all I can do.

I just started incubating eggs again. I have a brinsea and hovabator. I have purchased serama eggs from several breeders on ebay. So far..all eggs arrived intact. Ist batch of seramas...only one egg was fertile and haychted in the brinsea. I incubated the others in the hovabator..got them on lockdown in the brinsea now waiting. I read seramas are hard to incubate. I have gotton a lot of infertile eggs and a few that started but died. One breeders eggs had a lit of poo on them. I contacted the seller and they sent me 7 more eggs. Only three of those are fertile. It is risky..u dont know what your really getting, and i do think shipping is a big factor as far as hatchability.
