#1 issue in a word -- Seramas! Sorry to say, but it happens with them, from the lethal gene that some still carry. I still lose some at lockdown too. So more than likely, it wasn't your fault. (I do tend to assist seramas quicker than any other breed)

Congrats on the 7 though! You can move them to the brooder any time you want. And yes, while you're removing chicks, you may as well check the remaining eggs. Just be quick and careful about it, and keep the humidity up.

Thanks !! omygosh they are sooo cuuute!!! I checked the last three eggs and put them back in, but theres no movement, so I'm thinking I have 7 :) here is some incubator pics, and I took a video of the last one hatching. Looks like one gold fluff butt, two dark brown/black, and four look light brown/gold highlights :celebrate:love

I have about 8 Serama babies that just hatched. I should have 20 total hopefully in about 7 days. I will post pics and I would love to see your little ones.
That is awesome, congrats!! I'm so in love, they have so much personality ! If you have any pics of yours, I'd love to see :) I think seven will fill my serama-want for now lol... maybe ;)

Here's some fluffy pics! They took to the brooder so well... actually, at first I had pine shavings, but they were getting buried in them so I put in pup pads and only left a bit of shavings under the heater :) when I cluck they run over to my hands lol, they're such tweethearts !! :love:love

I've been incubating shipped eggs for the past two years now, crazy how time flies! Personally, I have more success with an auto rotate, I candle day 12 and day 17, set my eggs upright in an egg carton on day 17 with no more rotation after that. Talking only about Serama eggs :) They will sometimes hatch day 19, sometimes day 24, you never really know. It seems like a stable humidity is most important, so stick to a humidity of about 30-40 percent until you set your eggs (day 17 for me) and then a stable increased humidity of 60-70percent thereafter. And don't open the Bator, just let them hatch, Serama eggs seem to dry out super quickly when you take already hatched chicks out. I have better luck when I just leave them alone. Hope this helps!

My kids trying to hatch serama eggs for they 4H embryology progect . We see some possible emvryo on 3-5 eggs, but not sure ( some have thin veins and one have real embryo). It is 5th day now. I have 5 eggs with stable air sell in horisontal position and 7 eggs with wiggly and unstable air sell in upright position. We keep humidity at 50% but will adjast to 40 , based on your result. Do you rotate upright eggs at all or just tilt them?
