have a few fertil duck eggs in the incubator. They are fertil and at the end of the 28 day incubation period. Some of the eggs are getting some dark color to them. I have had two successful hatchlings. Could anyone tell me why this is happening

It's the grayish patches

We are at day 30 today no activity as of yet. We had two previous ducklings hatch out that did the same these are. They are
Have you candled them? Can you describe what your incubation has been like? Temp, humidity, etc?
70 on humidity and temp of 99.5 yes we have candeled them they were moving around last I checked but stopped candeling them once majority of it become solid color

OK so we talked to someone who breeds ducks and she said that the egg was no good it will be still born to get rid of it if it continues to get dark patches, because it will begin to rot and explode in the incubator. Some dark patches are normal once the duck begins to hatch but not that much.

I breed ducks too. You should candle before throwing it out, just in case. Eggs can also get bruising like that if a duckling is pipping and hits a vein, or is malpositioned and tries to pip into an area that is not in the air cell.
