I am incubating for the first time and attempting to do both chicken and duck eggs together. Here are my questions...

1. I started the duck eggs in the incubator on Friday and plan to put the chick eggs in this coming Friday. In the meantime, where is the best place to store the chicken eggs? I read not to store in the fridge because it is too cool and dry. I kept them in my garage at first but it started getting below freezing at night so I took them into my basement. Now I am worried it is too warm for them.

2. I read that it is recommended to cool and mist duck eggs each day after day 7. I also read not to do this with chicken eggs. I can't figure out a safe way to cool and mist the duck eggs without severely impacting the chicken eggs? Should I just lift the lid and quick mist the duck eggs and skip the cooling?

Also, any other advice would be great!! Thanks!

Fertile eggs can hang out on the counter for 7 days before incubating. Take the duck eggs out of the bator to get down to 85° (around 20-30 minutes) then mist them with room temperature water and put them back in. You can gauge how cool they get by using a "point and shoot" thermometer.
