Incubating eggs...Anyone want to join me

Wow, it's so amazing, the neat homemade incubators people can build. Maybe someday I'll give that a try. Right now I'm using my mom's bator. it's a Little Giant Still air one and I'm not impressed. Think I may buy my own. I was looking at a hova bator and egg turner combo on ebay. But after reading about homemade bators....well I might have to do more research. I'm just not sure about hooking up a thermastat and all. I'm not that machanically inclined.

muslw4-trust me it's not that hard to wire the thermostat, light and fan etc. there are lots of step by step directions on this site, and if you ask anyone they will help.

I candled today day 5-6 and do have some fertile ones I thnk maybe 9 out of 14 and of course I dropped one on the flashlight, didn't look cracked so I put it back in the incubator well it cracked, just am grateful it was one of the non-fertile eggs!!!NO MORE CANDLING TILL DAY 10 ISH lol.

I will be a nervous wreck

wyogirl,I candled again tonite and found I only have 1 fertile 1.It was a white egg. was hoping it was a blue egg or both of em fertile.

Here is a diagram the wiring of a wafer thermostat or water heater thermostat.They are all wired same way.

Wyogirl It's ok, I'll have 1 to hatch or maybe I'm reading it wrong.Since I am a beginner.But the wafer is so easy to wire up and it is very touchy but to me it's well worth getting 1 to me.But once I get the hang of it I'm purdy sure I'll be doing alot more hatching.With the incubator I'm gonna build I'll be able to hatch alot more. I get a dozen fertilzed eggs for $3.00 so hatching just 1 is well worth it.Good luck on your hatches.

I'm bidding on lavender orpingtons right now, they are so pretty!!!They are kind of spendy but, it will be fun trying to hatch them. Where did you get your wafer thermostat???? I think I will have time to build a new incubator, if I win the bidding I won't get them till July2-5 soooooo, and my current batch are supposed to hatch July2-4. Told my DH that it's my anniversary(July 4th) present LOL .
