Incubating eggs...Anyone want to join me

Just had to show everyone my homemade incubator, John Deere (my 5 yr old named it). So far temps are running 99-101, humidity 48ish or so but am gonna try not to worry about humidity right now, am trying to follow ChooksChick's incubation cheat sheet.

Sure!! on the first one you can see my light, pc fan and hot water thermostat, also have 6 small jars filled with water for heat sinks. The 2nd one shows the turning screw for my egg turner made out of a picture frame and dowel rod, and a 1 inch vent hole that i can cover using a medicine bottle like the one on opposite side, I also have a few pencil size vent holes scattered thru out.

Since I am using a broody hen, I have no technical problems to share or to any experience to help with! I did lure my hen off the nest to eat some chopped egg, lettuce and scraps today. She is glued to the nest, so I am trying to make sure she eats. This is day 2 for me.

I really like that styrofoam incubator. But mine is much smaller.I would like to find one that will hold about 24 eggs with the room as you did in yours.How many quart is yours?

Mother hen is natures way to do it.Wished I had a Broody hen.Shoot I don't even have a rooster since I gave them away cause they wouldn't let me sleep.

Wow, We finally got some much needed rain.temp today outside was 101 without heat index.

Am so excitede, candled 4 eggs and saw the blood pool (I think that's what it's called) looks like the pic on the candling post. I had to get rid of my water wiggler as it was leaking My temps are stable and so is my humidity, I do have to put a towel over the incubator at night as it does drop temp by 1-2 degrees, seems to help.

Cool, glad you got something going on there.your doing an excellent job at what your doing.I haven't candled yet untill this weekend.Hope I see something.So far it's been 4 days they have been in the incubator.But I'm hoping to see something out of 4.Building a bigger incubator next week, When my wafer thermostat comes in.They say the wafer thermostats hold a better constant temp.Keeping fingers croosed that I got atleast one egg fertile.
