Incubating eggs to hatch about August 8th

I had 4 out before I left for work. 3 Phoenix, one buttercup, 7 more piping. I got a txt from a co-worker who has brought me an abandoned duckling

. I don't know anything about ducklings! HELP! Anyone have advice? I plan to put it in with the hatchlings. She says it is a day old but I'm not sure.

Hey Puddin,
I had 6 demon spawn (aka Geese). I got rid of them on craigslist for a loss, If craigslist does not help

I found this for your duck....

Ingredients

Directions

Make sauce: In a small saucepan, combine orange juice, chicken broth, and orange marmalade. Bring to a boil over high heat, and then lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes. If the mixture is too thin, then mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons orange juice in a small bowl to make a slurry. Add slurry to sauce and briefly return to a boil. Keep warm until ready to serve.
While sauce is simmering, heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Sprinkle duck on both sides with paprika. Grill on both sides until medium-rare. Transfer duck to serving plates. Pour warm sauce over duck and serve

:lau Very funny. How do I grow him out?

Yes, those peafowl eggs only had to travel about 300 miles, but it still took 2 days priority mail. I don't expect to repeat this amazing feat anytime soon....now DH is asking what I'm going to do with all these peas??? I'm up to 26 chicks now, with 5 more in the 'bator...uh oh Ladies and Gentlemen, may I direct you to my ad in the classified section...?

I soooooo wish I could take some of them off your hands!!! Peacocks are sooo pretty!

Yeah. Here is the duckling.
DS said he'll take him......
Ducklings are so super cute! But, I don't think they would do well with the chicks, (though I know people do it all the time), and, I know you can never have one all by itself. They grow just fine on NONmedicated chick starter. But, every day, or every three days, sprinkle some nutritional yeast on top of the chick feed. The brewers yeast that some people put on popcorn. Ducks need more niacin than is found in the chick starter. For the first week or two, the duck can drink out of just a baby chick waterer. After they get older, they need to be able to dunk their entire face in the waterer. (I usually wait until 3 to 4 weeks of age... But that probably isn't very wise. However, I have Muscovy, and they don't seem to need the water as much as the other ducks)

Very sad...my broody Peeps baby died

I have no idea what happened. Last night, mom and baby were great...baby was eating and drinking. The only thing I did not see was baby poop but since my broody was caring for her I wasn't really looking. Now my hen is soooooo lost. I cleared the nest and broody area completely although I od think she realized baby died because she went outside to dust and hasn't done that since the day before baby hatched. Saddest day ever and watching my girl is just breaking my heart!
