Hi all, I new. I am trying to incubate eggs for the first time. I have read through the instructions that y'all have provided, and they are fantastic period but I have one question comma the word plugs has been mentioned a couple times. And I don't know what that means. I only have one incubator and it isn't a self turning. I am trying to inch you betta eggs for the first time. I have read through the instructions that y'all have provided, and they are fantastic. But I have a couple questions, the word plugs has been mentioned a couple times. & I don't know what that means. I only have one incubator and it isn't a self turning. I did not see any instructions for how close the eggs needed to be to the element, how often they need to be turned. I am using egg cartons, but I don't know how much to cut off. Thank you

What type of incubator are you using? Have you been reading threads and topics pertaining to your incubator type? The first thing that comes to mind for me are the plugs that some incubators come with that are used to plug ventilation holes.

Welcome!

Sorry, I have no incubator experience, just hatches under a broody hen but I did just want to wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you that is exactly what it was.

Thank you y'all. I appreciate all your advice! I have another question. Turning... I have them in egg cartons in the incubator with a thermometer. Does it matter what direction they sit? Can I make minor turns or do they need to be turned completely over? Thank You!
