incubating eggs

My eggs go into lockdown on Sunday! Yay!
Morgan36, is it Styrofoam (an LG-still air, maybe)? That's what I have, and they do better at 100-100.5°. If you don't keep it in a place where the temp stays consistent, they fluctuate ALOT. I'm having that problem with mine right now. I put a towel over it and its holding a perfect 100°. Good luck!

I have all my eggs in the bator but I am having trouble stabiliIng the the temp the eggs have been in for about 16 hours now and the highest I go it up to is 97 degrees so I hope every thing will be ok
I have a cabinet that I made into an incubator and it holds at 97 and i have had better hatches in that at that temp then in any other incubator at any other temp.

I am putting some eggs in the bator tomorrow evening 1/22/13 if any one wants to join me I am putting 12 Barred rock eggs 2 Black Minorca eggs and 40 plus cotornix quail eggs in the bator I will post pics every weekend and keep up to date records of how my hatch is going thanks please join in the fun
I put my eggs in on the 22nd and they are due to hatch on Valentines day. well I put a hen that is broody in a cage and let her have 11 eggs and they are due on the 14th of February. I hatch most of the winter because they lay before winter. I have cortunix quail hatching all year because we eat them. We have ducks, chickens, and guineas hatching.

The temp is still at 97 and holding my broody got off the nest and quit after a week so I hope every one else is doing good

I'll jump on. Just put my eggs in the bator last night 1/25/13 around 10:30pm. Using a hova bator with fan upgrade and the auto egg turner. I have 12 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, 1 German New Hampshire, and 3 Easter Eggers x Black Frizzle Cochin Roo. The first two breeds are delivered eggs the last ones are from my girls. Looking forward to doing this hatch with ya'll.

I ran my bator for 48 hours prior to putting my eggs in just to make sure I didn't fluctuate away from 99.0-99.9 and I'm right on with min at night being 99.1 and the high was 99.8. Good luck everyone.

my bator is still holding at 97 degrees I am fairly new to hatching will they hatch at that temp or am I wasing my time I have them in my basement and the temp is steady in there and I cant get the bator higher than 97

If its a still air, it really needs to be at 100-100.5°. Cover it with a towel and see if that brings the temp up (that's what I had to do with mine, its still holding perfect temp).

My eggs are on lockdown as of today :fl

I candled my Rouens today and it appears 6/8 are developing and two days ago I thought I only had 1/8. I'm scared to throw any out for fear I might be wrong? I'm assuming if they're totally clear at day 10 I should toss them or should I wait til day 14, anyone?
