Incubating in carton

I never said I hatched out of a carton, I was talking about the first 17-18 days, I dont go in to lockdown with cartons at all, I lay my eggs out on the wire bottom, I would never try to hatch in a carton with the top closed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry for the confusion.

Ahhh, well I do use the bottom of a carton in my simple incubator. No turner in this one. I have bad hands and turning with two cut off cartons helps hold them in place so I don't drop eggs. Also keeps them from rolling on the wire. Have good sucess hatching this way.

Sorry Reb, I was the one that was confused. But I do like hatching in carton, tho I may try just setting them on the bottom.

Richard

I did get a turner and will use it next time. With the batch that just hatched ,two days I either forgot to turn in the evening or didn't write it down.
