Incubating Muscovy Duck eggs

That's great @LilyD I'm so happy for you that so many are doing so well. We only ended up with one, the other two didn't make it. One internally pipped but died and the other when I opened the shell was still pretty under developed and had been died for probably a day. The little one we have seems pretty strong and is peeping a lot. I'm worried that he's lonely since he's on his own. I got him a stuff toy and he's been cuddling with that. He stood up twice this morning trying to walk and his legs look good. We're going to give him food and water later today and see how it goes. I'm hoping he does well and makes it. Congratulations on your babies, how exciting for you! What are you doing to do with them once they're grown?

Glad you got one to hatch. Before this hatch I did a hatch of chick eggs and had none hatch. It was another breed that seems to have difficulty hatching and they just didn't do well at all. This was a batch of shipped eggs from fowl menagerie. Originally we had 17 eggs but one was cracked and 5 were not fertile so 11 made it to lock down and 7 hatched and are doing well so that's 64% not bad for shipped eggs.

That's great! Post pictures when you can. Our little one is crawling all over his duck toy we bought him last night LOL We're going to start him on water and chick feed later today and hope for the best!

Now have 4 totally out of the egg and the first two that hatched are moving around better. The other three that are partway hatched are pushing out of the egg now but taking their time. They look darker color than the first three.

@subhanalah

How are your eggs doing? Any progress?
five healthy ducklings :)
One had suffocated itself while zipping night before last.

Oh no so sorry that you lost one, but glad you got 5 healthy babies. I am so bumming. I had to go out today for a bit and came home and one of the ducklings had gotten all the way in behind the waterer and was ice cold when I got home. Since there were no more in the incubator I moved them to the brooder when they were still wobbly and 6 are now fine and running around but the one that was behind the waterer is walking but with it's head between it's legs. It doesn't seem to have any head function and can't seem to keep it's head up.

Here is a picture.

The duck I am talking about is the one all the way on the left.

Her ID on BackYard is @Lacrystol she's been very helpful and maybe she can tell you what could be happening to the chicks neck and head. Good luck. The babies are too cute!

Thank you so much she messaged me and her information was invaluable. I know about incubating and brooding chickens but since these are my first ducks I am kind of new at it. The baby was niacin deficient and I have been giving it poly vi sol since I can't find poultry drench where I'm at. She has had two doses so far one this morning and one tonight. She is fighting me now when I give it to her because I am sure it tastes as bad as it smells. After I give it to her she will shake her head violently and try and wipe her face on the floor or my hands to get it off. I got home tonight and I couldn't tell which one she was because she had her head up already and was sitting with all the other ducks. Here is a picture from tonight. The brown tinge on the bottom of her beak and corner of her mouth is the poly vi sol lol.

She still looks tired but definitely better than she did yesterday when I got home and she was cold and unresponsive. Thanks for your help. And thanks Lacrystol for your help too. :)
