:hit:hit:thWEll, heartbreaking... I was candling to establish the air sacks, and dropped one. I was so pissed at myself. Saw nothing else of note, but I really had to search for the air sack on a couple of them.... so sad about the one down.

AACK!!! BTDT....luckily it was a dud, but was a big mess to clean up.

It was a dud? I thought it was still early to see anything through a colored shell? I didn't really get to see that one, as I dropped it before I even got the light on it.

It wasn't too bad of a mess, it didn't explode, just cracked and leaked a little on landing on my hardwood floor. So I scooped it up and then wiped up the remaining stuff there.

Been There Done That, my egg not yours ;)
It dropped from waist height to a concrete floor, Spa-LAT, full contents spread wide.
Gosh I can hardly remember what day it was on....far enough to know there were no veins when there should have been.

OH OH OH!!!!!
I thought about it later, that I should have looked at the cracked yolk to see if it was fertile, or developing, but then I didn't want to know. I didn't want to know I'd killed one. SIGH.

So, this morning the (now 9) eggs have been moved to a new incubator I just bought. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on one, as I don't think I will be regularly doing this. My sister was also interested in a 'joint ownership' incubator so I guess this will be it.
I like it for the most part, its supposed to be a 'set and forget' but its a little more touchy about humidity than my breeder's bater. It tends to trend higher humidity than I like, but keeps a nice even temp. Only thing is I have to keep a digital thermometer in there, since its on Celsius and doesn't have a read out on the humidity. The big thing was that the other one wasn't turning the eggs, which I didn't mind doing it myself, but I didn't want to expect my sister to do it.
So far so good. I'm going away this weekend, so my sister will be keeping an eye on the incubator, chickens and my pup. Come next week I should be able to candle for life.

Well, my friends.... I am sorry to say that I don't think that Napoleon was doing his rooster duty with Ashoka and Tex. I still have the eggs in the bater, pending verification with the experts. AKA You. There are 9 eggs, so I'm going to do them in groups of 3. Unfortunately, like an idiot, I didn't take the pics on all of them with their numbers in frame, so I have to record this by their position in the bater. Give me your thoughts, but I'm really disappointed at this point.
Lets do this by threes

They sure all look clear, and it's, what, day 8-9??...
.....hard to know if he was missing the mark or your incubator is off temp.
