Hm.... I kind of don't want to open it the bator in fear of shrink wrapping them.

Yeah don't do it until they hatch I mean they can't drown as eggs!

I was not there when mine hatched my friend went upstairs to get her shoes and told me one egg was broken and the others were all touching each other, I though one exploded or something but to my surprise one hatched they sure hatch quick when they actually get to hatching XD

Let us know how you both do. I have coturnix in an incubator with a fan for circulation and I still can't get consistent temps. The range has been from 98-101F and it's driving me up the wall. I am concerned I will be in the same boat in 2 weeks on hatch day.

Keeping a good temp and humidity with a fan is hard from what I hear good luck!! Crossing my fingers!

Okay I will give my 2 cents...first off the chicks should not "shrink wrap" unless they have pipped, broken the shell and then the humidity would have to really drop. And eggs/chicks in eggs can drown! if the humidity is too high they can get water inside the air sack and not be able to break through to the outer shell and essentially drown. A fan will help keep the temp more even but lots of folks use a still air incubator with no problems, myself included. I have a hen sitting on 4 eggs now and they should hatch within the next 5 days or so. She is a first time sitter so I don't know if they will hatch or not. I am glad she is taking a break from laying. Please ask questions if you need more help and good luck hatching and buttons are quite addicting!

Oh I did not know they could drown in the egg!! How high would the humidity have to be for that to happen?

A maintained 75% or above can drown chicks in the shell, or damage the air sac if there isn't a chick developed.. Your humidity shouldn't pass 70%.
