Incubating Shipped Eggs

Yes, 1 is hatching and 2 more have pipped :) I'm on my way to my house in Hayden to feed and check on the animals and grab clothes (still no power) :( I'll update later this afternoon.

Update: Just had the 5th one hatch. It's a blue partridge brahma which is what I was really hoping for...so excited.

A little tuckered out after all that work.

Hooray! Have you candled any of the other eggs or help them to listen for peeping?

I ended up assisting a malpostioned chick that couldn't have hatched on its own. I made an exernal pip for it so I knew it was getting air in the morning and that night I ended up fully assisting, but it had absorbed everything and was good to go. I should've taken pictures.

I have and I made an external pip for one as well. It is breathing and I can see the membrane covering it but I don't know what a shrink wrapped looks like. I don't know when to fully assist.

Did you notice if there were any blood vessels in the internal membrane? What did your candling reveal in the remaining eggs? Internal pips or peeping or anything?

Here's this. My understanding is that if it has pipped internally it won't get shrink wrapped but may still get stuck. If you end up feeling like you have to assist start with clean hands and create artificial external pips to make sure they have air and are alive. Then make sure the membrane is moist and look for blood vessels. If no blood vessels maybe peel back some more of the shell and then let the chicks rest. To see if they can finish on their own.
