Incubating Shipped Turkey Eggs (Tips?)

2 of the eggs are shadowing, maybe not internally pipped but the fluid is pretty much all absorbed from what I’m seeing. The other 2 are still working on absorbing as I still see veins at the edge of the air cells. I’m not doing a great job at regulating humidity, by morning the humidity is back to 40 so I’ll need to set an alarm for 3am or so.

Just might have some pips tonight/tomorrow so I’ll be getting their brooder set up.

One of the internally pipped chicks died sometime last night as it wanted to talking or moving this morning. I opened the egg up and it looked perfectly fine with just a little more absorbing to do, it would have been blue :(

After that I got nervous and created a safety hole for the others who had all internally pipped. No progress and it looked like 2 were really struggling to pip properly, so I decided to carefully help them both hatch. Luckily both had absorbed everything and were ready to go. I tried zipping them both to see if they would finish on their own. No dice. So now I have one white (likely blue) and one black chick crawling around the incubator. They seem okay so far.

As for the 4th chick, this one was taking longer to absorb so I’ve been keeping an eye on it. Took a closer look at how it was positioned and noticed the poor thing has an obvious cross beak 😭 So I’ve decided to leave that one alone and if it manages to hatch then I will try to get it going.

I’ll get photos of the 2 tomorrow when I put them in the brooder.

Well the cross beak was still alive this morning so here’s a few photos to show the deformity, it’s missing an eye too. I euthanized it afterwards as I could not imagine it doing well at all. Only cried a little.

Here’s the other two, I’m changing my mind about the yellow chick. I’m guessing it will be all white as an adult. Why is it that both the chicks that died had to be the color I really wanted? Oh well, these two seem okay but I still have to get them drinking and eating. Currently they are under the brooder plate.
