You're going to want to get the new 'bator up & stabilized before you put eggs in it. You'll also want to be sure your thermometers & hygrometers are registering correctly by calibrating them. These and other need / good -to-know topics are covered in the first couple of posts in this threadI have 2 sets of eggs incubating right now, first time ever. (I am not personally incubating them, but having an experienced breeder do it for me. I am buying my own incubator today. I was just too worried about the breeds I chose and losing money if i screwed up my first go at it. I have Cemanis and Silver Laced Orpington eggs in her incubator. I will be getting 1 dozen Legbars to start in mine tomorrow! Soo excited!!!
