Duckling and I were checking on the rhubarb patch. I found a wild strawberry, and gave it to her. She spit it out, so I guess she did not like it!

I went for a quick ride with a friend today.... We went on a slightly newer trail this time. Right after we turned around to come back, we heard buzzing..... A few seconds later, she started hurrying up the hill as fast as it was safe to go. She turned around and yelled back that there were yellow jackets bombing her & her horse. We got our horses into a fast trot, and shooed the bees away whenever they got too close. Once we got past the dicey parts of the trail, we galloped where we could and trotted where we couldn't. (Downhill) The yellow jackets chased us all the way back, which was more than 1/2 hr away!

Thankfully, the horses didn't get stung, or we would have had a bigger problem on our hands, in the form of a bucking half ton animal.


Moral of the story: Do Not mess with yellow jackets!

Can chicks have dwarfism?
I have one that doesn't look like it's grown since it was hatched four weeks ago. It's runnin around just fine, but the rest are 2-3 times it's size. I'm starting to feel sorry for the little bugger.

When we first moved in here they were so bad we couldn't have a bbq outside without them in our food and sodas. Brother in law taught me how to make a five gallon water trap that involves meat. Worked almost to well. I was emptying 2 to 3 inches of them out of the 5 gal bucket a week. It's taking several years with all neighbors helping but we can sit outside now without too much fear of being attacked.
On a separate occasion one night there was a horrible skunk smell lasting for sometime. Next day I was out looking around and saw where I'm assuming the skunk dug up the wasp nest. Parts of the nest were everywhere.

How do you make this ^^^

Is it your eggs your setting? The broodies should be having chinks in the next 4 days and out for a week or so.

Okay. I spent the night having nightmares, then woke and spent a while convincing myself that I was okay, and what I was dreaming was not really real, just kinda real.
I took some "Abi has awesome hair" pictures and deleted them. I put on some clothes, started the coffee, and went outside. Downside of feeding in the yard is that I have to go go the flock as soon as I get up. They are hungry and thirsty!
It began to rain. I opened the door for the flock, and laughed at the babies complaining about their hunger. They went straight to food while the adults went straight to water (which they should still have a few gallons in the coop). I fed and watered and watched. The baby chicks perch on the side of the water bowls. Occasionally, they fall in when someone comes from behind, and scares them.
A duck was chasing some chickens, so I picked it (thinking boy) up. I am now cut up. My arm is bleeding on the edge of my laptop and all over my desk. My pinky has stopped bleeding for the most part.
My computer didn't want to start.
Bad morning? No. It has actually been as okay as it can be.
