Well, when they come out, they will sit in the bator which is nice and warm (is that what you mean by hot surface?) I hope you're right about them getting out quick ..... poor little chicks. I'm learning the hard way.

You can run at a lower lockdown humidity 60-65% but other than that not much you can do. They will usually drowned before absorbing yolk sac and veins. What has your temp been at?
