@Jessimom , you should be able to see evidence mites or lice if that's what they have. Maybe @ronott1 can advise?

-Kathy
mites can be hard to see because they hide in the coop until night.

A sure sign of mites is blood on the eggs in a pullet or hen that has been laying for a while.

My advice would be to get elektor or generic spinosad and treat them all. The coops should be cleaned and sprayed with spinosad at but killing strength once a month until all symptoms are gone. Also, treat the chickens three times 7 days apart.

Then use permectrin the next time they show symptoms.

No, I saw no bugs, but it felt sandy or crumbly like. I've never seen that much feather loss before.

Mine get ugly and coop looks like a broken feather bed. Well not that bad but almost. You should see bugs. Try magnifying a spot and see. Usually can see without. Do they have access to dirt for dust bath. Also if you have access to oak ash to put in dust bath that will help if it is mites.

Good night!
@Akrnaf2Have a great day! I would ignore him he has been going in this endless redundant circle questioning treatment for over 12 hours. He obviously has an issue and is determined to let them due. Catch you later.

@ChickenCanoe , I'm in the process of modifying my excel spreadsheet, so when finished I will forward a copy to you with a few basic notes. -Kathy
:thumbsup Thanks.
It's pretty cool... DH made it, and it has a really cool feature where it will line up all the weights to day zero, so you can have data on chicks hatched throughout the year, but line them all up to day zero. Like this: -Kathy
Some remarks if I may The Abscissa and the Ordinate are name less, you should write the name of your coordinates, the the scale of the data is not equal on the Abscissa, = in between 2 point could pass a different number of days, even if the distance between them is equal, date is an inconsistent variable so you cant( according to mathematical rules ) use a consistent graph=line, you should use bars. And it lake a title !

You guys are right, it's probable something that wildlife rescue should do, it's just that I know how they are, and they probably won't want to send someone out until tomorrow, and the way I am, I wouldn't sleep knowing that it was vulnerable on the ground, so of course I would catch it and stick it in a dog crate, but I have welding gloves, a big net and I'm used to handling unruly critters.

@h2oratt
 , if wildlife rescue can't catch it, call animal control and they probably will come tonight.

Ok thanks for all the advice.

I know it's not perfect, and I really did it just so I could track the weight of my peachicks. I will tell DH about your suggestions and see what he can do, 'cause he's the brain around here, lol.
