I'm aware of them and I wish more people would pick an old breed that needs help and work with them like this person is to try to return them to how and why they were developed in the first place. That's what I try to do with mine.
The only problem I have with Crevecoeur, Polish, Houdans and the like is the crests make them vulnerable to hawks and other predators.

I wish I could float like a butterfly.
I'm glad too. The smartest thing I did was not try to drive home.

I had to get another nap too.
Please wear a dust mask when you muck out the coop.

That's when he gets stuff done.

They can bring in pathogens too. The famous bucket trap works great.
There are a lot of versions of it. You can find some on youtube.

Right. They can squeeze through tiny holes. They chewed a bit off the weather stripping under the back door so they can now get onto the back porch. There's barely enough space to see light through.

Not by a long way. That's what afternoon naps are for.
There were a lot of youngins there. I took them to school on the table.

Sounds like a good plan. How old are they? I just saw they are 6 weeks. They don't need any heat at those temps.
It's warmer than that here. Mine range from 2 to 4 weeks and have been out in the coop with no heat. HIghs in the 90s and lows in the 70s to 80s. Yeah, it's been miserable.

I have staggered settings in the incubator and was just going up to turn eggs to find a chick and a pip. 4 more due but no pips in them yet.

I hate when they switch nests.

X2 They're tough as nails.

My feed store isn't open on Sunday or Monday. They close about 2 on Saturday and at 4:30 during the week. I don't know how they expect people with a job to shop there.
It's an old time feed store and still stuck in the days when everyone around here were farmers.

:fl

Sounds like something I'd say.

Yeah, why is it our job to move the seat?
I hate when people put the roll on backwards.

Beautiful egg. You made your decision and did what you had to do.
I hate processing day too.
A squirrel? If I have one I have about 30.  I have a lot of rabbits and deer too but I don't have much problem with my garden.
The biggest problem I have with squirrels is when they chew the lids off of buckets of grain.
I hate cleaning squirrels cause the hair gets all over the carcass.
A #110 conibear trap works great. I suspend it in front of the hole they chew in the grain bucket. I've caught as many as 4 in a day.

My daughter swears the squirrels throw acorns at her and her car.

Great!

I'm not fond of the glue traps either. My wife had mice in her car and used the glue traps under her seats.

chickens and baseball. I listen to the game on the radio when I'm working outside.
Cards swept the Cubbies at Wrigley field for the first time since 1988, Then they go to Seattle and lose the first 2 games. Just by 1 run each. They were winning 3-1 going into the 9th Friday and lost 4-3 on a double, a walk and a home run.

Ever heard of Kentucky widage?
don't have any chickens.....did hatch a couple silkies out a few weeks ago....but gave them away.....the air conditioner and Lazy boy won.....sitting in front of the tv with pic in pic on

Sounds like a plan. It's Sunday after all.
I have to go out to get some work done. It has been a slow lazy day so far.
Cards on the west coast so game won't start for a while.

:frow....howdy Pens
400

The Tiger game....good thing i got picture in picture

Water line buried and walking path rough graded. More to do on that but he needs more dirt there and at his retaining walls.

Looks like I'm not needed to move the TV so I'm going to go turn the compost pile before its 100. And then into barn to see what else I can throw into neighbors trailer while he's gone.

Now we have found a baby humming bird. It's mom keeps fly to help it. . It doesn't seem to be able to fly well. W stuck it up in a tree.

No I haven't heard of Kentucky widage,

squirrels here always aim for us but it's a green pine cone the size of your hand or bigger. I will not park near the tree when they are harvesting the seeds out of cones.

This time hen is by herself so the others won't lay around here. But she took the eggs and left for a few hours then came back then left. Not sure if they have died or not so I'll get her some new ones tomorrow or Tuesday depending on the Altsterier laying ability in the heat

Not heard of the conibear trap either. Have some Google to do.

I find ginger ale over in the drink mix aisle by the liquor, not with the sodas.

Our traps are nailed to the trees around the coop. We haven't caught any in a while.

Pennsylvania does not sell alcohol in their grocery stores. Well... We are getting stores ithat have a separate section built on for wine stores and, in one case, a beer shop.
We do sell mixers, and they are always in the same aisle as the soda.

I had to get another nap too.

Milk is still all I can tolerate. However, I was able to handle starting on the coop. I got the storage room cleaned up (for the most part), the chicken pen is refrshed, and the duck pen... Thankfully, I didn't put too much bedding in there when I cleaned it a few weeks ago. I managed to get a good portion of the straw out of there, and at least stirred up the remaining straw. Now, the sun and air can dry the floor. The ducks will rdusteibute the bedding later. When they are gone in about a week, I will be sure to do a proper cleanout in there.
I was told the "life" saying many years ago. I certainly have met some intersting people.
I am not sure how I forgot about the water bucket trap. I might switch to that.
Mice can fit into a hole the size of a pencil eraser.
Men are able to go without touching the seat itself. If you have to move it in order to keep yourself from dripping on it, then you should have to put the seat back down. Or, you could just put the lid down too. Then, no one will know who was in there last.

I finally caught my original broody off of the nest. Unfortunately, the other hen was spread out, preventing me from seeing any of the eggs. The two of them will be moved to the floor soon. Not for the safety of the chicks, but for their own comfort.
