DW says the shells on those two very light eggs we were discussing earlier were definitely thinner than their darker counterparts.
I've noticed that the longer the eggs stay in the shell gland, the darker and thicker the shells are. Got a picture somewhere of a pea egg that was in the shell gland for over a week, and it was so much darker than her regular eggs.

Hi Kat!
Not sure I have ever shared this or not, but its so far the BEST read on the Factors Affecting Egg Internal Quality and Egg Shell Quality in Laying Hens, it covers internal and external quality and the issues with them. It covers so much I was saving it for a day most are online for conversation. But I am afraid I will forget about it. It is WELL worth the read, as are the abstracts some of the info derived from.
