Welcome @Chickalete

Hello, This is my first post and I can't figure out where I should post. I see y'all are on now, I think?
I have 3 incubated pea chicks that are just over 3 days old. 1 is really struggle since yesterday but still alive and standing. Very lethargic and not eating or drinking that I can see. I have been helping her drink but. that is about all i have succeeded in doing.
1 of the other chicks is very aggressive towards this struggling chick. I am thinking of separating her until she is stronger but she does get upset when I do. So, there is still fight in her.
I really need help. Not sure what chat tomgo to or even how this all works?
Welcome @sseabass Hope everything goes well for your chick!

Hi everyone! Tomorrow is lockdown on my first hatch. Just a recap, I had large air cells at day 10 and I realized it thanks to Sally's links she offered to me. I increased humidity and just candled. Only one has had any growth of air cell, and its minimal. I was told they looked like day 18 air cells, so I think I'm good there.
My question is, these are shipped eggs and 2 had detatched air cells. They've been sitting up this whole time. One of them has liquid that flohoats around the air cell when I turn it to its side. I'm wondering how this will work when I place the eggs on their sides?

I have had that liquid too, but kept upright for hatching. Wondering how everything is going?

Congrats to all the awardees!

Welcome @sunnyroller

let us know if you need help with anything! Good Luck! I would love to see your coops with the crates!

This weekend I built 2 coops from equipment crates. Every time I went in the house I would take off the soaking wet shirt and put on another one. I alternated 3 shirts each day. Chickening has really added to my laundry.

Hi everyone. I live in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire where we have rolling green hills around us. We are 40 miles north of London, which takes an hour to get to by train. I've been reading the forum for ages and have found some really useful information on it. I've got 5 hens in my garden and 4 chicks hatched a week ago. It was my first chicks so I've been really excited about them.
Welcome @UKApril

I have 14 BCM that gotro17 had shipped, 4 legbars (I think were also shipped), along with I think 12 of my backyard chicken eggs - these are on day 10. And I set 28???? eggs 2 days ago. It's a mix of gotro17's backyard mix eggs, and mine. I'll do an accurate count if I ever candle them.

Mine are probably not all fertile, Since we pulled the roosters several weeks ago, and the baby roos were just starting to figure out how to play with the girls when they started to crow and got pulled.. I currently have a BEAUTIFUL Salmon Favorelle and 2 black silkie roos in my basement. Waiting until I figure out what we are going to do with them.

I also have 2 broodies sitting on eggs. Not sure how far along, or how many eggs. They both should be getting close though.

Pensmaster Known as Uncle Pen to some, Pensmaster to the rest

Just popping in for a minute...

I said I would get a few pictures....

Here is a somewhat odd hatch from a few weeks ago. I had traded some Serama eggs with somebody at a show, so my incubator was turned off for only about two days. So...out of those 10 eggs, three very cute black mottled chicks hatched. The others were not fertile. And of course, two eggs from some very small silkied seramas of mine somehow found their way into the bator. Those two hatched and are very tiny. And...a few days before these chicks hatched, I had a mother call duck hatch some babies but there were still two viable eggs in her nest. So...I put them in the incubator. One of these was obviously not a duck egg. A Silkie hen snuck one into the nest. The other looked like a duck egg. Same shape, size and greenish color. Well these two babies hatched the same day as the Serama chicks, but were both chickens! No duckling. The only possibility is an old Ameraucana hen that hardly ever lays an egg, and her mate who is a white d'Uccle roo.
Here is a picture of the silkie chick, the Am/Uccle and the two tiny silkied Serama chicks. All the same age and still in the same pen together.
Nice!

I was worried about my "little lonely" chick. Boy did he shock me! I thought he'd get pecked at and pushed around. Turns out he is quite the fighter! He went up to the slightly older chicks, looked then in the eye, and pecked at them till they backed off! Ohmygosh it was so funny! They have accepted him now it looks like...no fuss. I will say that you could tell how happy he was when I set him in the brooder box. If a chick could smile, he was doing it!
Awwwwe, that's great!

So I got my incubator turned off again for another day, went to a Serama show and brought back some eggs! I didn't mean to. I have around 100 Seramas. I was admiring somebody's trio that they had for sale. I didn't really want them and they were more than I would have spent....but I found a buyer for them and in return was offered a dozen eggs from that trio. Into the bator!
Only two eggs were good. The rest looked a bit old and never developed. Then our electricity went off two different times. We have a generator, but it still gives the incubator a fit when this happens. Both hatched, but both were upside down and I had to assist. They were more than ready when I helped, but one just layed there for 24 hours before he decided he was born now. He then took 4 days before starting to eat, so I gave him baby bird formula to keep him going. His eating behavior finally kicked in and now he's catching up to the other one.
So cute!
love.gif
Funny how eggs just turn up in the bator like that.
lau.gif

Eggs just follow me around like stray cats or something... Then I go to bed and there they are, all comfy in the bator when I get up in the morning.
hu.gif
So that's where all my eggs have been going! I thought it was strange that I only had a few! jk
lau.gif

Just like Santa Clause.
I got it! Santa Claus goes and finds some eggs, turns invisible, and carries them to TJ's bator! Sound good?
Next time I find eggs in my bator, I'll blame Santa Claus!
