my old timer friend always told me olive oil, it also is good for leather care, has no smell, or color, and won't destroy stitching most importantly. They have found olive oil in europe over 1000 years old that is still perfect for use
LOL, make sure to tag kathy!
where are our pictures? congrats!!

Same here across the state from you. We had some severe storms as the cold front moved through and now we have a couple day break with lower humidity and highs in the 80s. Sunday the heat and humidity return.

You can't let her underbelly touch anything that will hold heat. An elevated wire bottom cage has been used for centuries.
We kept about 4 cages hanging from the roof of the hen house around head high to make it easier to feed and water them and it seemed like there were always a couple hens in them.

I second what everyone else said about calibrating. Don't trust any unknown thermometer, hygrometer or even the displays on the incubator.
That was horrible.
I surely look at this differently than a Jewish person living in Israel but here's my take.
In most of these cases, these people just happen to be muslim. They aren't religious, just frustrated petty criminals that go crazy. It is terrorism, nonetheless.
We have always had terrorists. Just members of society that feel powerless to have any influence through normal channels and strike out.
I was in Florence, Italy in 1974 when terrorists bombed a train. I was on a train going west and that train was going east out of Florence. The bomb detonated at the end of a tunnel under the Apennines. It killed 12 and wounded 48. The neo-fascist group Ordine Nero was upset when the government dissolved an ultra right wing political organization.
I think they were after the Prime Minister who had been on the train but he disembarked before the train left Rome.
Muslim/Arab/North African populations haven't assimilated into most European societies like they have in the US.
In Europe, many are clustered in poverty stricken areas. IMHO, that is the cause of anger, not a strict adherence to religious fervor.
We have lots of those people here but we have no massive exclusively Muslim enclaves here. As an example, hundreds of NYPD officers are Muslim. That hasn't happened in Europe.
This guy was of Tunisian ancestry but he was French and a petty criminal who happened to also have grown up with the Muslim faith.
That works well wherever the sun reaches the ground.
Trouble is, most of my property is always shaded.
I have 4 out and the other 4 eggs have pipped.
I feel bad for the little guy that hatched yesterday because he's stuck in his pedigree cage. I hope the others get going so I can take him out.
The sooner the better.
High carbon steel takes an edge easily but doesn't hold it well. Stainless is very hard to sharpen but holds an edge longer.
I have a wet stone somewhere but haven't used it in years. My son gave me a Chef'sChoice diamond hone that I use and I use a steel also. If the knife is really in bad shape I use a file to get it close till I use the hone.
X2 Don't leave it in the rain.
Do you hatch bantam eggs at higher temps because you are impatient?
Small eggs will hatch early on their own without altering the temperature further causing them to come early.
Chicks hatching early because of high temps tend to be thin and noisy.
I don't currently use one but the simplest way I've done it is to put it outside in the shade for an hour or so. Go to the accuweather website and enter your zip code. Get the humidity for your area and compare it to that on the hygrometer.
Aside from a file or a steel, I primarily use this after they're fairly sharp.

When I installed vinyl roofs, I used a file to sharpen scissors and could get them like a razor blade. You could put the scissors at the edge of the vinyl and with no resistance it would move through like it was water.
As long as it is a decent steel, I don't think the brand matters as much as technique.
I'm not as good as my son. He can make a knife sharp in seconds with a steel. Speed and maintaining a consistent angle.
Have a safe trip. Have your gear packed?
Hard boil a couple eggs while you're getting ready for work, stick them in your pocket and eat them on the road. That's what I did when I had to go to work too early for a good breakfast.
Shalom Benny.Good morning to all of you!
ChickenCanoe I won't try to convince you, this isn't the right platform but let me tell you one fact.
99.99% of people that are muslim by faith are good, honest and life loving people, that love their children and family
And just want to fulfill their life, but on the other hand 99.99% of terrorists are muslim....
I'm hoping and praying for your birds survival.Sell, the automatic door did not arrive so I will find out if my hardware cloth skirted runs and llama keeps everyone secure enough since I have no one to lock and open the pop doors.
That's a lot of free hay. You can bet I'd be doing the same thing.i dont know where i would find straw but i can get hay and mulch hay (very good quality) for FREE, i just have to help bale and stack

That is a good clue. I actually plan on using hatch dates and times to determine the accuracy of my settings.1 day, 1 hour, 0 min, 32 seconds.
Goodness, no! I'm not that impatient.![]()
I ran high accidentally, because I was still figuring out temp level and all that stuff. I had a mixed batch of LF and bantam, and the LF was out by day 20, bantams by 19. So I assumed I ran high.
Good morning to all of you!
