Just got 2 baby ducks and a baby goose! YAY! But, when they get older, can they live with my chickens? Or do they have to have a delegate pen?

I just put in eggs yesterday. This will be my third time incubating. I'm extremely excited about this batch because it contains not only Black Copper Marans but also some olive eggers!! My olive eggers are from my beautiful Easter Egger hen, Bubbles, and my Blue Marans rooster, Jaxon. I can't wait to see what color they turn out to be! I also added in my eggs from my Cuckoo Marans, Barred Rock, and Rhode Island Red hens. The only roo I have is Jaxon so they're all mixed with him. I am interested to see how much darker the Barred Rock/Marans cross and Rhode Island Red/Marans crosses eggs will be once they start laying. Does anyone know? I can't wait for the next 21 days to pass! The picture is my Blue Marans roo and my Cuckoo Marans hen. I'm not all that familiar on Marans color genetics yet. What color will their offspring be?

Hi, Watermelon's Mom here... She thinks the chick is turned around and too big? (She's also crying because she really wanted this one, poor thing) Most of the shell is off, but it's just an egg shaped chicken?... I don't know if she should keep trying or not. :(

At this point, you need to get the membrane off so it can escape. It is probably shrink wrapped.

I might add that this is only day 21.
IMHO, the problem is that it started pipping at day 18. The temperature was likely too high throughout incubation.

I have 1 olive egger left from my 7 year old Ameraucana hen and a Black Penedesenca rooster.
I should set some of her eggs this week.

I set 15 eggs yesterday (Jul 19) for the zodiac hatch so they'll hatch during the waxing moon in the sign of Scorpio.
Yours should hatch in the same period.

If anyone else wants to join, you have till about noon on Thursday to set eggs.

When is the next time to set eggs since I won't have any to set by Thursday?

What are you doing up so early Kathy?

Lol, no idea!

Guess what I found yesterday... I found a hen hatched chicken chick with the yolk not absorbed. I thought about culling it, and still might if it declines, but thinking I'll try to save it just for grins. It was cold, and barley moving, and the yolk was covered in dirt. :(
