Lol, no idea!

Guess what I found yesterday... I found a hen hatched chicken chick with the yolk not absorbed. I thought about culling it, and still might if it declines, but thinking I'll try to save it just for grins. It was cold, and barley moving, and the yolk was covered in dirt.

That's interesting. Did she abandon it?

Hopefully it makes it.

Good morning everyone!

Morning

That's it for this month but there will be two periods in August. The 15th, 16th and 17th - then again from the 24th to the 27th.
Thanks. I might try to set some in August after I subtract some extra cockerels.

Just got 2 baby ducks and a baby goose! YAY! But, when they get older, can they live with my chickens? Or do they have to have a delegate pen?
My ducks and chickens have been together.
I just put in eggs yesterday. This will be my third time incubating. I'm extremely excited about this batch because it contains not only Black Copper Marans but also some olive eggers!! My olive eggers are from my beautiful Easter Egger hen, Bubbles, and my Blue Marans rooster, Jaxon. I can't wait to see what color they turn out to be! I also added in my eggs from my Cuckoo Marans, Barred Rock, and Rhode Island Red hens. The only roo I have is Jaxon so they're all mixed with him. I am interested to see how much darker the Barred Rock/Marans cross and Rhode Island Red/Marans crosses eggs will be once they start laying. Does anyone know? I can't wait for the next 21 days to pass! The picture is my Blue Marans roo and my Cuckoo Marans hen. I'm not all that familiar on Marans color genetics yet. What color will their offspring be?
Good luck with your hatch! Coloring is a mystery.

They should be fine together, unless the goose gets nasty, which shouldn't happen if they're raised together.
Feed, I believe, is a whole other matter. I don't have ducks, but I believe, from reading other posts here, that they have different nutritional requirements than chickens.

She made the nest in a really bad place, and she's not a good broody... She's the type that will get up off of wet chicks to go eat.
