I'm hoping that they increase there size in a couple weeks but I doubt they will. Yes the eggs are currently smaller then standard. I've got several nice cockerels that I would like to keep as potential breeders but I don't have enough hens to keep everybody somewhat happy and feathered. Egg color of the two girls who are laying has been consistent and the appropriate color, I just wish they were a little bit bigger.I take it you are getting mostly eggs smaller than standard.
All you can do is go for it and set the largest eggs you have that are the appropriate color.
I've had birds off and on for 6 decades but have only been breeding chickens about 7 years.
That isn't a great deal of experience so I defer to those that have been breeding much longer than I for guidance.
