Quote: Yep...Monkey Wards, alright. Mom ordered a 1/4" drill stand from them once; was sent a 1/2" drill instead. She called them & told them of their mistake, & got told that "we don't make mistakes like that". Dad & I finally wore it out 20 years later. Mom never did get her drill stand.

You get to have all the fun.
it was soooo much fun, we did it wall by wall and worked very slowly

Dead cat is a deal breaker.

I moved into an apartment on The Plaza in KC back around 1979. It was an efficiency across the street from my office, One room with a sink and combination stove/refrigerator. It had a huge closet where the murphy type bed was. It stored against the closet wall, swung out into the room and then folded down to the floor.
I moved my clothes and possessions in and went out to meet friends. When I returned about midnight and turned the light on. The walls were covered in roaches. I turned the lights off, locked the door and went over and slept in my office. I didn't go back till they fumigated the place and I got a month's rent back.
the cat was dead a loooong time when we found it

Did the corset fit?

Nothing wrong with turkey dinner in February.
at that point it may have been i was probably around 12 when we found it, but it was too fragile to try on and a lot of it was missing

Quote: Our 1st apartment was on the 3rd floor, end unit. Wife had a bat dive bombing her while I was at work & she was wrapping Christmas presents on the floor. The lady @ the rental office next day couldn't believe it, 'til I told her that anywhere you have trees & water you'll have bats; we had plenty of both.

the fence part burnt up not the ground
I'm still not clear on how it happened. Are you talking about the wooden fence or the wire part? How did that catch on fire? The unit got too hot?

Will bats bother chickens? (Like at night, if they roost outside in trees or fence posts?)

Quote: Our 1st house, in northern NJ, didn't have a dryer. We bought one, & I was drilling to the outside for the vent pipe when my hole saw came to a sudden stop, obviously caught on something inside the wall; a pair of man's work pants. he rain gutter overflowed all the time 'cause the "Harry Homeowner" before us hadn't allowed any slope to one end, so he'd drilled holes into the bottom.. The inside walls were paneled, but I guess corner molding hadn't been invented yet. I was digging up a place to plant tomatoes when the mattock cut through the power cord (3" under the surface) to the detached garage, where the door, naturally, was wide open. The washer drained into plastic perforated pipe routed into the neighbor's field. It was clogged where it made a turn, resulting in a soapy pond whenever the washer drained. Worst of all, the roof sprung a leak over a ceiling light one night, which could have been really nasty. The guy had been trying to save shingles, & every nail head on the roof was exposed. A call to the Municipal building revealed that the house was officially a Summer home and didn't have a kitchen; nothing had ever been inspected.
