Didn't I send you a YouTube link of a variety of Austrian Alsteirers?
2 y.o hen
Sluggish. Spends most of her time sitting around, often with eyes closed
Can't manage to jump onto ramp. Sits still for me to pick her up & set her in the coop at night...she's never done that..normally have to net all of them.
Comb dark pink, rather than the usual red of all her flock mates
All other birds appear normal.
Entire flock wormed a couple months ago, based on vet's recommendation after running a fecal sample
Based on total number of eggs/day, she's still laying an egg a day, maybe. One of the 5 hens hasn't laid an egg in months. They all look alike, so I can't tell which one it is. While the one hen was broody, I was getting 3 eggs a day. Within the last few days I've been getting 4.
I'm wondering if the broody has resumed laying and the under-the-weather hen is the one who hasn't been laying for months.
Been like this for 2 days

Thoughts?

With nothing but lethargy as a symptom, it could be too many things to guess.
I think you are right in surmising that the broody resumed laying and the sickly one isn't - especially daily.

The last time I had a hen that sick, I took her to Mizzou vet school for a necropsy. She had cancer.
That's what I mean by that it could be anything.

Ditto to Chicken Canoe. I don't think there is enough information.

I am like u and thinking egg bound get personal with her, check her

Also put food coloring in the other girls vents to see who is laying put zip ties on legs that coincide with food coloring it's the easiest way to tell who is laying

I have 19 eggs that will be on day 21 around eleven. One didn't look far enough along under a broody, but the other 18 (inside and out) are looking great.
Duckling went to sleep with visions of chicks running in her head.

Hoping they all hatch on the same day. I don't need the hassle of chicks being refused by the moms.

Fingers crossed for you MC!

I just told someone in a PM, I am glad I don't have the panic of a person that isn't sure how to assist. I remember that feeling of "what do I do? When do I stop? Where do I put the hole?" If I choose to assist (who are we kidding? I assist, and have not lost one yet that I did.) I only have to decide when. Such a relief!

Does anyone here have a brooder plate from Premier 1? I got one this week, plugged it in yesterday. Checked it this afternoon and it was so hot I could only touch it for 2 seconds before it was burning my hand. Is it just me or does that seem too hot?
