This was taken when it was a few hours old, dry but a little sticky!

Here they are, eating already!

There a light brown on top, there is one or two chicks lighter then the rest. (I hope lighter = rooster and not the other way around!)
I hope this "barnyard" mix turns out :)

well done well done!! glad we got to share some of the excitement with you!!! thank you !!!!!! when will you set again?

My Dad used willow. I had a science teacher who used copper wires. He'd walk around the room, and the wires would cross (if i recall correctly) when he was over a water supply. He even passed them off to an other student, who got the same results. Water pipes under the floor. Every time the pipe location was passed, same results. A lot of the old timer "old wives tales" are cause for ??? But, if they got reliable results, who are we to argue. Of course it could be said that, if you dig deep enough, you'll hit water anywhere. Not always so. Our well is almost 300' with very poor return. Dad didn't "divine" our property. Nor did he claim to be reliable, but he would play around with it.

I think my Dad used sticks. They drilled in a few places but never hit water. My husband used sticks to try to find where one of our lines crossed the back yard. We knew where it started but needed to find it in middle. I think he ended up just digging from where it started, lol.

That one's the worst. My dad told me it once a couple years ago (or sooner, I never know

) and I never believed him but he made me try it and sure enough, we got near the hose and off it went. So creepy haha

O wow, that is creepy, lol.

My hubby thinks I should stop hanging out with you guys.  He says you're a bad influence on me because I just bid on more eggs.  He thinks I'm becoming obsessed, I tell him that it's better than another child (which I've brought up to him recently and he doesn't want any more kids).  He didn't have much to say after that :)

:lau :bow

That is the best response! Ha ha!

I have another batch that should be ready to hatch Thursday (Nov 19), this dozen is from a neighbor. So far two eggs have cracked (when they were tiny blood spots nothing more) so I am down to 10. These ones will be a real mix since he has barred rock, RIR, leghorns. I am hoping they will be a good age to start laying for our Canadian summer :) I plan on keeping these guys indoors for as long as possible then possibly heating my outdoor coop if the smell gets uncontrollable but coming from meat hens I am hoping these stay fresh :p

Does anyone want to upload a picture of a 2 month old chick up here, would like to know what size they would be. The hens from these 7 was pretty small so I assume these guys will be small to.
