VERY drought tolerant - hard to get rid of, actually - essentially like a weed in my yard, along with prickly pear. Pretty flowers, though. They would do very well in your climate (like any plant, you'd water it in at first, but once established, shouldn't really need water...)

Too dark to get you a photo of mine (I will tomorrow), but here is a photo from Wikipedia - the ones I have have very sharp, very firm needle-like fronds and are indestructible:

Quote: Those are some really nice looking NNs! How old are they now?

You know, before ever got chickens, I got a giant metal rooster to put in the yard (which I named Rodney) - taller than me at the comb. He got put away when I was having some tree work done - I need to bring him back out again... (The second one is in my yard, with a briefcase for scale.)

@Fire Ant Farm

I can see why the deer don't like them. We have the agave plant here. Extremely sharp spines. Our flower bed probably doesn't have room for the Yucca plant. I think we have something similar to it down by the deck. They have a very long trunk now.

The NN hatched 6-1-16 these are from Murray McMurray but I bought the from feed story.

I will be happy for the cheese... But um, :oops: The nn gotta stay out of sight. It makes me nauseous looking at them. Who knows? May be the real thing won't be so bad. :confused: Okay! Where are we all going to live? Oh! Let's all buy a zoo!! :celebrate :weee

I just candled the last three eggs in my incubator. I had to go back to the first egg because I could not see anything. When I saw movement in the other two, I thought it was worth taking another look at the first one. At least, I think I saw movement. There were a few eggs with smaller air cells at lockdown. Maybe these three were them, and more time was all they needed.

That would be real good

Ok now you have my attention. How's the size of the NN. I got some from the feed store here. I'm sure they are not as good as yours will be coming from a breeder.

Here's a few

We had a lightning storm a few years back that I can only describe as other worldly. It was amazing. We don't get them very often but this one was something.

I love naked necks! And this lady that I got them from had some AMAZING looking birds! Here are some of her flock:

Also, most of her birds carry the buff barring gene and the blue egg gene!
